5th,4th, & 3rd grade :

During the first week of Technology class, students will be introduced to foundational digital skills and expectations to set them up for success. We will begin with Intro to Tech – Rules & Procedures, where students learn how to responsibly use devices, follow classroom routines, and understand digital safety expectations. Students will then complete a Typing Pre-Test to assess their current typing speed and accuracy, which will guide their progress throughout the year.

Next, they will take a Technology Pre-Test to evaluate their general understanding of key tech concepts, helping us tailor instruction to their needs. We will also review Snip & Sketch, a useful tool for capturing and editing screenshots—an important skill for completing digital assignments. Students will participate in a lesson on Digital Etiquette, where they will learn how to communicate respectfully and behave responsibly online. To wrap up the week, students will explore Interland, an engaging online game that teaches internet safety, privacy, and ethical choices in a fun and meaningful way. This week builds a strong foundation in digital citizenship and prepares students for more advanced tech projects ahead.

2nd & 1st grade :

This first week is focused on building comfort, awareness, and foundational knowledge to ensure students are ready to engage in more advanced technology projects throughout the year.

Kindie :

To build hands-on confidence, students will engage in activities to develop their Mouse Skills, practicing how to click, double-click, drag, and scroll accurately. These introductory lessons are designed to help students feel comfortable with technology and prepare them for more advanced digital tasks throughout the year.

5th grade : 

Techno Entrepreneurship Project

In this technology rotation, students are learning about the basics of entrepreneurship and what it takes to start a business. To make the experience meaningful, each student is developing their own restaurant idea. They begin by voting on the type of restaurant or cuisine they would like to create, and then enter and analyze the survey results in Google Sheets. After deciding on their restaurant concept, students move on to the creative stage by designing a custom logo for their business using Canva.

This project teaches students how to collect and organize data, make decisions based on results, and apply creativity through digital design—all while gaining an introduction to real-world entrepreneurial thinking.

4th grade : 

Internet Search & Digital Brochure Project

In this technology rotation, students are learning how to use the internet responsibly and effectively to search for information. Their project focuses on exploring facts about Colorado. Students gather information through online research and then apply their digital literacy skills to create a well-organized brochure using Google Docs.

This activity helps students practice safe and efficient searching, organizing information, and presenting it in a creative and professional format.

3rd grade : 

Google Docs Basics Review

In this rotation, students are reviewing and strengthening their skills in Google Docs through practical, hands-on activities. They are practicing essential tools such as formatting text, inserting images, organizing information, and collaborating on a document.

This review helps students build confidence and efficiency with digital tools they will use regularly in school and beyond.

2nd grade : 

Creating and Editing in Google Docs

In this rotation, students are learning how to create, format, and edit a Google Document. To practice these skills, they write about themselves using bullet points and add images of their favorite animals.

This activity helps students develop confidence in using digital tools for writing, formatting, and inserting visuals, while also encouraging creativity and self-expression.

2nd grade : Welcome to the Web

“Welcome to the Web” is an interactive set of web pages which can be used to teach children (and adults) about the Internet. They can be used in the classroom / computer room, and children are welcome to explore them as they wish (although they have been designed to use in sequence).

The resources are in split into seven sections:

1. The Beginning – explains how to use the site.
2. Getting Started Online – teaches children about the basic concepts involved in the Internet (World Wide Web, Hyperlinks, Back button etc). This introductory lesson also gives valuable practice in visiting and navigating around websites.
3. Staying Safe – encourages pupils to keep themselves safe online by following the SMART rules. Also tests their understanding using interactive activities and fun quizzes.
4. Using Your Browser – helps people to learn more about their web browsers… what are the different features, and how are they used?
5. Searching Online – teaches children how to search effectively and keep themselves safe when doing so. Also identifies search engines which are particularly suitable for children to use.
6. Trying Top Tricks – finding information on the net is great, but it is also important to know how that information can be used. This section explains printing, using the Find tool to locate specific information within web pages, copying and pasting text, and saving images from the web. Also includes information about copyright and why it is important to credit others when you use their work.
7. The Welcome to the Web Challenge – When the children have completed all of the sections of Welcome to the Web, they can complete this exciting challenge. It requires them to use all of the skills which they have learnt to catch the creator of a destructive computer virus!

3rd grade : Classification of animals (Google Sheets)

Students are learning how to collect, organize, and visually represent data using Google Sheets. In this assignment, they entered survey results for favorite animal groups into a spreadsheet, formatted the headers for clarity, and adjusted column widths for readability. After entering the data, students created a pie chart to show the number of votes each animal group received, titled “Favorite Animal Group.” Finally, they reviewed their work for spelling and accuracy.

This activity helps students develop essential technology skills, including spreadsheet formatting, chart creation, and data presentation, while reinforcing their ability to analyze and interpret information.

4th grade : Empires in the Middle Ages (Google Sheets) 

Students are learning to organize and present historical information using Google Sheets. They began by completing Learning.com modules on spreadsheets, including navigating cells, formatting, and managing rows and columns. Using these skills, they created a spreadsheet titled Empires in the Middle Ages, with columns for Empire Name, Date, Location, Ruler/Leader, Achievements, Challenges, and Pictures. They practiced formatting techniques such as merging cells, centering text, adjusting row heights and column widths, wrapping text, and adding borders to make their spreadsheet clear and organized.

Next, students researched four empires of their choice and entered the corresponding information into the spreadsheet. They also inserted images for each empire to make their work more engaging. Finally, students reviewed their spreadsheets using spell check to ensure accuracy. This assignment strengthens both technology skills and historical knowledge, helping students learn how to present information in an organized, visually appealing way.

5th grade : Business Letter

Students are continuing their Techno Entrepreneur Project by drafting a business letter in Google Docs to request a loan for their restaurant business. While working on the letter, they are also learning important skills like editing, formatting, and inserting elements such as their business logo and a survey chart that explains the reasons behind starting their business. This project helps students practice both their writing and technical skills while gaining hands-on experience with creating professional documents.

Techno Entrepreneur Floor Plan: Students are learning how to create a floor plan for their restaurant business using Google Drawings. They will design the layout by including important elements such as the emergency exit, kitchen, tables, entrance, restrooms, and other key areas. This exercise helps students understand the importance of space planning and organization in a business, while also developing their skills in using digital tools for design and visualization.

In this assignment, 5th grade students are learning how to use Google Sheets to track and analyze business earnings. Students enter monthly income data for a business scenario and use basic spreadsheet tools to organize their information clearly. They practice formatting cells, labeling data correctly, and ensuring their spreadsheet is easy to read and understand.

Students then apply formulas to calculate quarterly and yearly earnings based on the monthly data they entered. This lesson introduces students to essential spreadsheet formulas and helps them understand how math is used in real-world business settings. Through this activity, students build foundational skills in data organization, problem-solving, and digital literacy while gaining a practical understanding of financial concepts.

3D design(TinkerCAD)

Students are learning the basics of 3D design using the Tinkercad platform. They design a custom restaurant name by creating and modifying 3D shapes, adjusting size, height, and placement, and combining objects to form a complete design. Students are introduced to essential 3D design concepts such as dimensions, alignment, and precision while working in a digital design space.

This project helps students develop spatial reasoning, creativity, and problem-solving skills while gaining hands-on experience with real-world design tools. By using Tinkercad, students learn how digital designs are created and prepared for real-life applications, building a strong foundation in engineering and design thinking.

4th grade : Short Animation Story(Canva)

Students are learning how to design a short animated story using Canva’s animation tools. Students plan a simple storyline and use design elements such as characters, backgrounds, text, and transitions to bring their ideas to life. They explore basic animation features, including timing, movement, and visual effects, to create an engaging and school-appropriate animation video.

This project helps students develop creativity, storytelling, and digital design skills while learning how to use technology responsibly. By completing this assignment, students strengthen their ability to communicate ideas visually, follow a design process, and use digital tools effectively.

3rd grade : Pivot Animation

By creating a story with Pivot Animator,students will learn how to use the program to bring characters to life through movement. They'll explore the concept of “pivot points”, where parts of their characters can rotate, like heads turning or arms swinging. As they design their animations, students will practice storytelling by planning scenes, making characters move, and adding action. They’ll also develop important skills like sequencing, figuring out how to make movements flow from one to the next. Overall, using Pivot Animator will help them understand the basics of animation, creativity, and how to express ideas through pictures and movement.

2nd grade, 1st and Kindergarten: Block Coding

Kindergarten, 1st, and 2nd grade students are learning the basics of block coding using Code.org.
