AACP-PTO Star Volunteer of the Month

May: We are thrilled to announce BOTH Megan Mehl and Dina Burmeister as star volunteers for May. These wonderful ladies demonstrated endless teamwork and dedication to kindergarten.
The Mehl family
has a kindergarten (Leighton) and a 3rd grader (Micah) here at AACP. The kids keep our family busy with lots of sports and activities. We have loved the four years we have had at American Academy so far. We are grateful for all the experiences, opportunities, and wonderful education the kids receive here at AACP, thanks to the amazing staff and PTO. I absolutely love supporting the school by being a room mom and helping with other various events. We are proud to call AACP home.

The Burmeister family has 2 sons at American Academy - Eddie (2nd) and Jett (K.) They have been with AA since Eddie started kindergarten 3 years ago. Dina loves being a room parent because she gets to support the teachers who spend each and every day with her children. She loves being around school, in the classroom and getting to know all the staff, teachers and families who call American Academy home.

March: We’re thrilled to celebrate Andrea Moon as our Volunteer of the Month! - Andrea and Mark Moon have been part of the AACP community since their son Davis was in first grade back in 2016. Now, with their youngest, Holden, in 7th grade, Andrea continues to give her time and talents to our school. As our Middle School Room Parent, she makes organizing everything—from ice cream parties to Elk Ridge celebrations—look effortless. No task is too big or small—Andrea handles it all with calm and efficiency. She’s also the ultimate connector, rallying middle school parents like a pro and making sure everyone feels included and informed. Thank you, Andrea, for all you do!

February: We are pleased to recognize The Strand Family — Lisa, Ryan, Sam (8th grade), and Finn (2nd grade) — as our Star Volunteer Family of the Month. The Strands joined American Academy when Sam was in 4th grade, and Finn has been here since Pre-K. Lisa has a deep appreciation for the role teachers play in shaping students’ education and is committed to supporting them in any way she can. She finds great fulfillment in getting to know the students her children are growing up with and values the strong sense of community among AA staff, students, and parents.

As Grade Parent Coordinator, Lisa works closely with teachers by supporting and guiding all grade parents and ensuring parents have the resources they need to assist classrooms effectively. She also lead the annual Grade Parent Kick-Off Meeting to set volunteers up for success.

We are truly grateful to the Strand family for their time, effort, and dedication to making AA a wonderful place for our students and teachers, and as a token of our appreciation, the Strand family gets use of a carpool pass for a month! Their contributions help create a supportive environment where teachers can focus on what they do best—educating and inspiring our children. Thank you, Strand Family, for all that you do!

January: We are pleased to recognize The Ruddy Family — Marcus, Krystal, Reese (7th), Charlotte (5th), and Maxson (1st) — calls Lone Tree home, and have been part of the American Academy community since 2022. From the Ruddy family, “Having all three kids at one school is a true gift.

I love being in their classrooms, catching glimpses of their school day, and sharing in such a meaningful part of their lives. It’s a joy to know their teachers, meet their friends, and hear, “Hey, that’s Max’s mom!” or “Charlotte’s mom!”—those moments are priceless. Even our middle schooler can’t help but smile when we cross paths in the hallway. American Academy, the staff, students and fellow parents have been an incredible blessing for our family, and we couldn’t be more thankful.”

The Ruddy family is such a help to the AACP PTO and as a token of our appreciation, the Ruddy family gets use of a carpool pass for a month! The PTO greatly appreciates the Ruddy family for all they do!
