Middle School Dances

For those parents new to the middle school scene, middle school dances are essentially a school social. We try to discourage the kids from asking “dates” or pairing off for these events, and no formal dress is ever required, though the Student Council will sometimes pick an optional fun theme and announce it to their classmates at school. We just want the kids to relax and have fun together!

IMPORTANT: for accountability, health, and legal reasons, these dances are open to currently-enrolled American Academy students ONLY.

Dances typically take place at the student's own campus, and are chaperoned by their own middle school teachers. Occasionally, the Student Councils at each campus will opt to plan a cross-campus event; these are chaperoned by American Academy middle school staff from all campuses involved.

All dances take place from 5:30 - 7:30 pm, and we charge a $7.00 admission fee (to cover snacks and a DJ for the evening, as well as to fund raise for student council programs). Please plan to be on time to pick up students after the dance. The teacher chaperones are volunteering their Friday evenings so your students can have a safe and fun place to hang out, and they have already put in a full day of teaching prior to setting up, chaperoning and cleaning up the dances. They are certainly very tired and ready to head home by 8:00 pm and on-time pick-ups are MUCH appreciated!

The first dance of 2024 will be held on November 1st from 5:30-7:30

Hello, middle school students!

We hope you are all doing well and looking forward to our first middle school dance next week.

Here are the important details you need to know:

  • The dance is on Friday, November 1, 2024 from 5:30-7:30pm.

  • The theme of the dance is “PJ Party.” This means you can wear your pajamas to the event, but NOT to school on Friday.

  • PJs must still follow the AA Dress of Choice policy rules.

  • Cost is $7 to get in (pay at the door)

  • Refreshments:

    • Pizza $3/ slice

    • Soda $2/ each

    • Water $1/ each

    • Each student will receive a free sweet treat at the dance.

  • All students must be picked up by 7:30pm

  • No walkers will be allowed.

  • Our DJ takes song requests, but they may not be played (depending on time).

  • All food and drinks must be kept in the cafeteria.

  • The cafeteria will close at 7:00pm for clean-up.

  • Students are expected to behave according to middle school expectations and parents will be called, if those expectations are not met.

We hope to see you all at the dance! Here is the link to request school appropriate songs:
