Happy December We hope you are staying warm.  Brrr… Thank you so much to those who came out the REBEL Strong event this past Saturday.  It was great to see all of you!  We have many important dates to remember this month!


AAPTO-CP November Events


Holiday Fund – Now through Dec 13th

This much loved tradition is an opportunity for families to give cash gifts to the teachers and staff of American Academy in lieu of individual holiday gifts.  This is a great way to do something extra special during the holiday season for those people who are so important in our children’s education and lives.  If you would like to participate, the form and money will need to be returned to school by Thursday, December 13th. Please remember, since the teachers/staff love this tradition so much, the class money already collected by the room parents is not used to purchase a holiday gift for the teachers and instructional assistants.  In Addition, you can use the Holiday Gift Fund Form to help AACP families in need!  You can do this by donating to the Giving Tree while making your contributions to the Holiday Gift Fund.  If you did not receive the form or have misplaced it, please click here for a copy.


Teacher Appreciation Luncheon – December 13th

Let's close out 2018 with an Italian spread!  Please select an item by clicking here to bring to the school for this much appreciated event.


Please drop off all of the items at the front office by 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 13, 2018. If you are unable to attend the event or can't bring your items, please delete your name from the sign up page so we can get your spot filled.

Molholm Toy Drive – Dec 10-14

The Annual Toy Drive for Molholm Elementary will occur the week of December 10th. Please consider donating toys to Molholm Elementary, where more than 90% of the students are in the free and reduced lunch program. 


Students in Kindergarten through 6th grade are being asked to bring in  NEW, unwrapped gifts for a child their same age and gender, to their homeroom. 


Students in 7th & 8th Grades are being asked to bring in NEW, unwrapped gifts for a preschool child, to their homeroom. 


There is no limit to the amount of toys you can donate. Please donate toys that one child would open and enjoy on its own i.e. coloring book with crayons.


Toys will be collected in homerooms, and delivered to Molholm Elementary on the morning of Friday, December 14th. 


If the number of toys donated in an elementary or middle school homeroom are equal to or greater than 85% of the number of students in that classthe homeroom gets a dress of choice.

The first, second and third place elementary homerooms that collect the most toys, with a minimum of 15 toys will receive an ice cream party. 

The middle school homeroom that collects the most toys will receive an ice cream party.


Please remember that toys must be NEW, unwrapped, and have a label with the homeroom teacher in order to count. Used toys will have to be thrown away. Thank you so much for your continuous generosity!


Restaurant Night – Wednesday, December 12th – MOD Pizza – Castle Rock and Lone Tree

Come out and save yourself the time from cooking.  We have scored both locations of MOD Pizza for Wednesday December 12th.  You can go ANYTIME during the day 11am-9pm at either the Castle Rock location or the Lone Tree location.  We will receive 20% of every purchase.  Please see the attachment on this page. All you have to do is show them on your phone OR print it before you go.  We hope to see you there!


Crazy Hat Day – Friday, December 14th

A few years back, we created a little incentive to help get kids in the giving spirit and we want to continue this fun tradition!  On Friday, December 14th, we will be having Crazy Hat Day.  If a student brings in $1 to go toward the Giving Tree he/she will be allowed to wear a hat to school that day.  Donations will be collected by K-8 homeroom teachers in the morning on Friday, December 14th. Proceeds from the Giving Tree will be used to help buy gift cards for families at our school that are on the free or reduced lunch program. 


Family Bingo Night – January 26

Mark your calendar for a fun family event coming up on January 26th. We will be having a Family Bingo Night at the school with lots of chances to win prizes. More info to come in the next post!


Spring Bash Planning Meeting – Dec 10

As you may have seen, Spring Bash will be on Saturday, March 30th and it will be an ‘I Love the 80's’ party. We are excited to get the planning for our largest fundraising event started. We will be having an informal meeting Monday, December 10th at 6pm in the library to get some organization, committees and ideas flowing.  We will have lots of opportunities for help (donation solicitation, wine wall, teacher craft, volunteer coordinators, etc.) and we will go over all this info at the meeting.


We rely on donations for the vast majority of the live and silent auctions to make this event successful.  If you would like to donate something (use of a condo, Broncos/Rockies/Avs tickets, experiences, etc.) or maybe you, an acquaintance or a business may be interested in a corporate or family sponsorship, we have those as well – Please click here if you want more info on sponsorships!

AAPTO-CP November News

Open Social CO-Chair Positions

We have added lots of fun social events this year and are looking for Social Co-Chairs to continue these fun traditions each year. This is a great way to get volunteer hours. We need one Social Co-Chair for each of the following events. You will get 40 hours for planning the event even if it doesn’t take the full amount of time. Please contact Krista Cooley if you are interested in taking over an event.

Open Board Position – VP of Fundraising Programs

We have an immediate position available on the PTO Board!


The VP of Fundraising Programs at AA-CP manages the committees responsible for our on-going Fundraising Programs such as King Soopers Reloadable Cards, Box Tops and Longmont Dairy Caps collections, Restaurant Nights and our Fundraising Partnership with Castle Pines North Cleaners.  The VP of Fundraising Programs works as liaison between committee chairs, the PTO board, and school administration for marketing strategies and event implementation.  He or she is responsible for managing the event calendar and budget and working with the treasurer to ensure accurate accounting.


If you are outgoing and love creating programs to benefit our school, this is a great position in which to earn your volunteer hours.  It’s a whole lot of fun and the smiling faces make the effort worth it!

King Soopers Cards

We are so happy all King Soopers have distributed.  If you have not received your card, please contact the PTO.  We receive 5% every time you load your card!  It’s really that easy.  You can use your card to get gas, groceries or inside when you grab coffee.  You can still earn King Soopers points as well.


Box Tops

So, after the first count, we have some leaders!  For elementary school, the leaders are: Valentine, Gant and Mullen.  For middle school, the leaders are: Bagley and Gray.  Please continue to collect box tops!


Mabel’s Labels Scrip

The lost and found is already piling high, so please label your child’s belongings.  We have created an account on Mabel’s Labels, so for any of you who love to use these on everything our kids lose, look for American Academy Castle Pines or click here to shop.  Similar to our restaurant nights, we receive a percentage of all sales.


American Furniture Warehouse

We sent home a flyer today from American Furniture Warehouse.  We recently have partnered with them.  Next time you shop at AFW, you can let them know AA is your school and they will give 2%-4% back to AA Castle Pines!  If you didn’t receive the flyer, you can look at the top of this page for the flyer!

PTO-CP Monthly Board Meetings

PTO-CP Monthly Board Meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of each month.  Our next meeting is TOMORROW.  We are having our meeting at Scileppi’s in Castle Rock.  Our meetings open at 7pm and parents are ALWAYS welcome to attend. This is a great way for parents to get involved and learn about upcoming volunteer opportunities.
