Dear American Academy Parents,

 

It’s starting to feel like January! The kids are back in school, the football playoffs are in full effect, and the holidays are now behind us. We would like to thank all of the Moms and Daughters who attended our event on Saturday, and a special thank you to Ms. Lang for being the guest speaker. We have some fun things in store for this month such as our Bingo Night and for those who think their Chili is the best, we have a competition just for you. Read on about our Holiday Toy Drive results and the upcoming Spring Gala! (it will be here before you know it!)

 

January/February Events

 

Sock-It-To-em Sock Drive - Collecting Socks for Homeless Children - January 13th-24th

Did you know that there are almost 45,000 children in Colorado that are homeless?  Did you know that socks are their number one clothing need?  It may sound strange, but socks wear out faster than other clothing; yet most people don’t think about donating them. Join the Castle Pines AAPTO in helping homeless children by donating new pairs of socks from January 13th - 24th. Collection bags will be placed in homerooms.  Children's socks are preferred, but socks of any size are appreciated.  Last year, American Academy collected 2,491 pairs of socks and we hope to collect even more this year!

 

Restaurant Night-Crumbl Cookies-January 16th (No flyer needed)

Come out to Crumbl Cookies, where they will be donating a percentage of their sales when you mention AACP. If you haven’t tried their cookies, you are missing out! Visit their Greenwood Village location all day and enjoy some sweet treats!

 

Bingo Night-January 18th 4-6:30PM

B-I-N-G-O! Come try your luck and have fun with the family at Bingo Night. For just $5 per person, you will receive a bingo card and pizza. (Scileppi’s will be providing the yummy pizza for us!) You must register in advance as we will not be selling at the door to ensure that we have enough cards and pizza. Go to http://www.myschoolbucks.com, log in, and click the drop down box under the school store option (at the top) and go to Browse items. You should see AACP Bingo Night and can register. Restaurant Night-Chick Fil A-January 21st (All Day at both CR locations, no flyer needed)

We made $160 from our last Chick Fil A night! Whether you want to use the drive thru or eat inside, just mention AACP at either of our Castle Rock locations to receive credit for your purchase.

 

Teacher Appreciation Luncheon–January 31st

Calling all Chili Chefs! As you know, it is an American Academy tradition to have a chili cook off just in time for the BIG game!  The winning chef will receive a VIP Carpool Pass to use for a week! To qualify for the VIP Pass, you must sign up using the following link.

Please drop off all of the items at the front office by 9:00 a.m on Friday, January 31st.  If you are unable to attend the event or can't bring your items, please delete your name from the sign up page so we can get your spot filled.

PTO Meeting-February 4th 7PM

Come join us in the library at the CP campus at 7PM. We welcome and encourage your ideas and suggestions.

 

Restaurant Night – Costa Vida – February 6th, 5-9PM (no flyer needed)

Looking for something fresh and delicious? Try out Costa Vida, located at 10005 Common Street in Lone Tree. (near the Target) No flyer is needed, just mention AACP for credit.

 

Father/Daughter Dance – February 8th, 5PM – 7PM

Let's Go Wild! Dads and Daughters, come join us for this special event held at AACP. There will be refreshments and yummy treats. Doors will not open until 5pm sharp. Don’t monkey around, Click Here to register! Cost is $40 per couple, $10 per each additional guest.

 

Restaurant Night – Freddy’s (Castle Rock) February 18th, 4-8PM (flyer needed)

Come out for the ice cream or come out for the burgers, either way, come out and enjoy some yummy food! Bring the flyer, show it on your phone, or mention AACP for credit! (flyer can be found on our PTO site.)

Molholm Toy Drive – THANK YOU!

A huge thank you to our incredible AA community. Your generosity brought in over 1,200 gifts that we were able to donate to Molholm Elementary! We can't thank you enough for helping to make the holidays so special for these families. You can check out the video and pictures from Molholm on our FB and PTO page.

 

The following homerooms will have a Dress of Choice on Jan 21st- Shilhan, Sundgren, Anthenien, K. Miller, Anderson, Wilkerson, Mullen, Gant, O'Neil, Lankford, Doody, Summers and Meyers. All of Middle School will be granted a Dress of Choice.

 

The following homerooms will receive an Ice Cream/Popsicle Party on Jan 21st- Sundgren, Anthenien, Mullen, O'Neil, Doody, Meyers and Badgley.

BLACK AND WHITE GALA NEWS

Mark your calendar, this year we are having a Black and White Gala at Cielo in Castle Pines (485 Happy Canyon Rd) from 5:00 - 11:00pm. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and you will definitely not want to miss this amazing event!

 

TICKETS: Tickets will go on sale for the Black and White Gala on Friday, January 31st. 

 

WINE WALL DONATIONS: We will be out during carpool at the end of January collecting cash donations to purchase wine for the famous wine wall. You can also donate wine to the front office for the Gala. All wine donations must be over a $20 value for each bottle of wine. 

 

SPONSORSHIP: We are looking for Sponsors for the Gala. Please contact ptocpfundraiser@aak8.org if you are interested in becoming a Sponsor.

Collecting Board Games

During these cold winter months, we often have indoor recess. We are hoping to collect board games that are no longer of use to you and your family so they can be enjoyed by students during indoor recesses. We will take games for all ages and distribute them to the age appropriate grades. We will also take Lincoln Logs, Pick Up Sticks or ANY other fun activity that can be stored easily. You can drop these off in the front office anytime!

 

Black and White Gala Committee-We need you!

Our Spring Fundraiser is our biggest fundraiser of the year and we need your help to make this event happen! We have lots of volunteer opportunities for this event. Please click here to sign up.

Longmont Dairy Caps – Milk Caps for Moola

If you get your milk delivered from Longmont Dairy, be sure to save those caps! We get 5 cents for every cap that includes, Milk, Iced Tea, Lemonade, Orange Juice, Coffee Creamers, and Cold Brew Coffee. You can send them in a bag and drop off at the front desk. We have created an account on Mabel’s Labels so for any of you who love to use these on everything our kids lose, shop online now and grab some labels! Similar to our restaurant nights, the Castle Pines campus will receive a percentage of all sales.
